Round Tables w/ Lazy Susan
Designing products from nature to enhance the home.
When in China a few years back, I learned to love meal time. Dinner for the Chinese was an event. Usually the meal lasted about 2 hours. There was conversation which was easy for everyone to enjoy due to the round table. I have noticed at our rectangular tables there is at least two conversations going and sometimes three. Someone is always trying to hear what is going on in the other conversation. With the round table all are engaged in one conversation because everyone can have eye contact.
The other advantage to a round table with a lazy Susan is the food is available at any time. No more getting up to pass stuff around, it is there, if someone wants something they give Sue a spin and there it is. There is no need to interrupt the conversation to pass food back and forth and no wondering if you're passing the wrong way.
Another interesting thing the Chinese did was to have smaller plates. With the food available there is no need to stack up, take a little, when that's gone, take some more.
